The first Corrado came out around the time i took
my drivers licence and coming from a "Volksvagen
family" I felt as if they made this car especially for
me, but at ½ million DDK I knew that it would remain just
a dream-car. Instead I bought the predecessor, the VW Scirocco, also
built by Karmann. Not the most sensible choice as a first car, but
once I tried it there was no going back. It was a 1978 model with
a 85 HP, 1588 CC engine, which even though it doesn't sound like
alot, could kick some butt.
The Scirocco gave in to rust in 1993
and since then I had 4 other cars, but always dreaming of the Corrado.
Finally in 2004 the dream came true and I bought myself a sunyellow
Corrado in Köthen, Germany. Obvisously the best country to
by a car in is Germany, so you can test the car in the few spots
left without speedlimits :-). This car is without a doubt the best
car THING I ever owned. I love it. Only problem is that it's
hard not to let it rip on the freeway. |
